This is more of a realization turned into poetry.....or not... whatever you want to call it, here it is.
hypocrites look
like hypocrites act
if you're a hypocrite
then so is everyone else
trying to fix ourselves
by going to church
serving in church
teaching in church
not that you're
more guilty than me
I am the worst of these
hypocritically, we judge other hypocrites for being hypocritical.

Explaination:
This 'poem' is quite literal. I was sitting in church watching the worship leaders sing, when I suddenly though these hypocritical things.
It started with this great singer Gary. He sang a solo with the choir as his backup. What I love about Gary, is that he sings from the soul. When he's singing about God, you can tell he means every word. I compared him to the other worship singers that sing every morning with the same nonmelodramatic faces. I personally know about some very difficult, personal situations, some of the worship singers are going through.( Even if I dont know everything, I do know that everyone has their story.) Then I had a revelation. The worship singers aren't fake, nor do their words mean any less than Garys. The whole reason people come to this great church I go to, is to fix themselves. We all screw up, and we're just trying to learn how not to. It was wrong of me to so quickly judge these people as hypocrites, because that's exactly what I am.
I'm graduating high school so I've been thinking a lot about my future plans. College, career, church, etc. Church wise I've decided to examine why exactly I go to the church I go to. It can't be simply because I've been going there all my life, and that's where my parents go. I have to find the reasoning out for myself. I found that my church has some of the best, most straight forward teaching of any church. I love that. One issue I do have (although it is NOT the church's fault) is the strictly conservative attitude SOME people have. For example, I do not think this is true of any of our pastors or leaders.
----On a side note, it is important to have those people in a leadership position. I have often thought, why don't I go and spread what I know about Christ to others, i.e. going to college in Chicago where Im away from my church.Im not saying that you shouldn't spread Gods word ( that is absolutely true.) It's just I need to realize where God needs me.----
The leaders at my church have a true longing to learn about God, and it shows. The problem is when less careful church members take the 'laws' too far. We can get so wrapped up in the logistics part of living for Christ that we forget how to feel the love of Christ. I think this is one very important downfall.
